Xikipedia — replacing doomscrolling with Wikipedia articles
One way to "cure" doomscrolling meaningless content could be replacing it with Wikipedia articles. Xikipedia does exactly that, as a pseudo social media feed that algorithmically serves you content from Simple Wikipedia.
It's made as a demonstration of how even a basic non-ML algorithm, with no data from other users, can quickly learn what you engage with and suggest more of it. The algorithm runs entirely locally. With infinite scroll and preference selection at the start, it was a genuinely fun few minutes of scrolling through useful content for once. Plus, no one is sending my scroll data to advertisers.
